So...I spray painted a shirt.

It started with this.
When I made my burlap personalized pillow I,
accidentally,
forgot to put something under the burlap and I painted our concrete driveway.
Oops.

After walking past it over and over for the last week I thought to myself
"Hey, self.  That actually looks pretty cool.
You should try to do it on purpose!"
So, that's what I did.
On a t-shirt
(that I bought at the Dollar Store.)

So, I got out my plastic and burner and made myself a stencil.

Then, I placed a scrap piece of burlap over the shirt and placed the stencil over that.
I didn't want to paint directly on the shirt.
(Although, I'm going to try that affect next.)

I gave the stencil a few good coats.
Next time though, I'll be more patient and spray a few thin coats instead of getting all spray paint happy on it.
(that will keep it from getting drip marks next time.)

I like the end result.
It's simple.
Just how a T-shirt should be.

It looks really cool - what a great effect! The burlap mask was a great touch. How do you make the stencil with the burner, though? Does it just burn through the plastic and make a clean "cut"? You probably have to put something underneath and it's probably unhealthy to inhale the plastic fumes, right?

What a great idea for making the stencil! Eliminating all that cutting would make it so much easier. I, also would like to know more about making a stencil with a burner.

I'll write up a post about the stencil cutting today and explain. :)

That turned out awesome! I would never have thought to use spray paint on a t-shirt! Best part it's from the dollar store! Talk about thrifty and so stylish! I'm going to try this! Thanks for linking up with us at Show & Share!
